Four routes to funded training
Skills Bootcamps
Free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, funded by the Department for Education. Open to adults aged 19+ in England who are employed, self-employed, or recently unemployed.
Typical eligibility
- Aged 19 or over
- Living in England
- Employed, self-employed, or recently unemployed
- Right to work in the UK
Apprenticeship Levy
Large employers pay an Apprenticeship Levy that can fund staff training, including digital and AI skills. Levy payers can spend their funds; non-levy employers may access co-funded places.
Typical eligibility
- Employer with a pay bill over £3 million (levy payer)
- Non-levy employers may co-invest at reduced cost
- Training delivered by a registered provider
- Available across England
Adult Education Budget
The AEB funds learning for adults aged 19+ without a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to A-levels). Digital skills courses, including AI fundamentals, may be fully funded.

- Aged 19 or over
- Living in England
- Do not already hold a Level 3 qualification
- UK or settled-status residency
Lifetime Skills Guarantee
Adults without an A-level-equivalent qualification can access a fully funded Level 3 course. Some AI and digital skills qualifications are available through this scheme.
